There is no doubt that after the grand success of Baahubali series, every director and producer wants to work with Prabhas and Karan Johar was not an exception to it. It is said that Karan was very eager to launch Prabhas in Bollywood but it was the high price quoted by Prabhas which made Karan drop his desire.
A source told,
“Prabhas had devoted five years of his life to the two Baahubali films and it was only fair that he would want to cash in on his new success.”
So when Karan offered to work with him, Prabhas asked for an increased price and it was too high even for KJo to consider. As a source told,
“But the price he asked for was staggering. While it was okay for him to ask and get his desired price — reportedly in the vicinity of Rs 20 crores — in Telugu cinema, it was unrealistic for Prabhas to expect that kind of remuneration in Bollywood. No South Indian actor, not even Rajinikanth, has that kind of commercial clout in Hindi cinema. Prabhas has clearly out-priced himself from Bollywood.”
The demand for such an exorbitant price made Karan back out from his commitment that he gave verbally. A source told,
“After Baahubali and its sequel, Karan was keen to launch Prabhas in Hindi cinema. But on seeing the price he was asking, Karan has decided to abandon the idea of launching him.”
As of now, Prabhas is shooting for “Saaho” which is a Telugu-Hindi-Tamil tri-lingual movie and it is being shot in Hindi & Telugu simultaneously. The leading lady of the movie is Shraddha Kapoor and she was taken on board to attract the Hindi audiences.
Has Prabhas made a mistake by losing out on Karan Johar’s movie as working under such a big banner would have provided him a suitable platform to start his career in Bollywood? What do you think? Share your views.
